Some additional thoughts from the artist:
The original yo-yo is thought to be from ancient Greece. For this particular project, Chris Mackey decided to explore the infamous set of characters in Grecian legends known as the Gorgons, Medusa and her two sisters: Stheno and Eurayle
The face on this coin was modeled after an Anthens born Grecian model. The moment of transformation as her hair becomes a living nest of snakes is frozen in metal over a background of classic native architectural detail. The first symbol in green is that of Medusa and recognized as the Triskelion, a symbol of the underworld (or earth within the earth) from the Greek khthon. The second in red is that of Stheno who was said to be a healer prior to becoming the most vicious of the three sisters with her red lips and bite. The last in blue is Eurayle's watcher over the waters as she bellows her call to the unwary who come within range.
From artist Christian Mackey:
"Enjoy this piece and remember the stories as it travels and experiences stories of it's own worth retelling through the years becoming a legend of it's own!"
